This is a very common issue for overseas users registering on 12306. The main reason: verification emails sent from 12306’s domestic mail servers get blocked or discarded directly by the anti-spam systems of Gmail and local Romanian email providers. The sending IPs of 12306 are listed on international anti-spam blacklists, so overseas email services reject mails from Chinese servers by default. This is why you still can’t receive the mail even after trying two different overseas email addresses.
A secondary possibility is that the message lands in your Spam or Junk folder, which many travellers often forget to check.
Try these options in order:
Change your registered email address in the 12306 profile to an Outlook/Hotmail address, then resend the activation email. Search your inbox and spam folder for the keyword “12306”. Outlook works better than Gmail for receiving emails from Chinese platforms.
Alternative email solution: You can sign up for WeChat using your Romanian mobile number (+40). Once you have a WeChat account, go to [https://en.mail.qq.com](https://en.mail.qq.com) and select WeChat QR login to create a free QQ Mail account (@[qq.com](https://qq.com)). QQ Mail is a Chinese mailbox that has a much higher success rate receiving 12306 activation emails.
Note: WeChat registration may require friend verification sometimes for overseas numbers.
Recommended backup: Book your high-speed train tickets via [https://Trip.com](https://Trip.com). You only need your passport, and a 12306 account is NOT required at all. This avoids all the email activation hassle.
